This is event is temporarily discontinued as of January 2023. We are expecting to start again in April at a new venue in Cocoa Beach! Contact for details. Every Tuesday is a five round Swiss tournament in Cocoa Beach at Bula Kava Bar and Coffee House. Multiple sections for different skill levels, including a section open to new and casual players. The buy in ranges between $7 and $12. Matches are rated for those who are U.S. Chess Federation members. Very fun and inviting atmosphere; we make a toast halfway through the tournament!

Note: If you have heard about this event, this used to happen at Island Root Kava Bar but as of March 23rd, 2023 will now take place at Panera Bread. See the following details. Every Thursday is a five round Swiss tournament at Panera Bread in West Melbourne. First round will start at 6:30PM sharp! Ten dollar buy in. Prizes for top placements are cash based on entries. If there is a sufficient amount of players, there will be sections for different skill levels. Look for chess boards and register with Sean Malone or Alex Dshalalow. At the Catherine Schweinsberg Rood Central Library in Cocoa (308 Forrest Ave, Cocoa, FL 32922), every Sunday some players gather together to play some games for fun. Occasionally, they'll do a blitz tournament if they have the right amount of interested players. Chess Coach Owen Grant, a player with 50 years of experience, offers free guidance and coaching.
