BREVARD CHESS CLUB ACTIVITIES

Mondays at 7:00PM

This 5 round Swiss tournament will take place at the wonderful Juice 'N Java Cafe every Monday (75 North Orlando Avenue, Cocoa Beach, 32931). The first round starts at 7PM and the tournament will take roughly 2 and a half hours from start time to complete.

 

We welcome players of all ages and levels. For our next date, click here to visit our monthly calendar of events and click on the desired date/event to pre-register. It is $20 if you pre-register online, and it is $15 for kids 17 and under, and $10 for kids 12 and under. It is $5 more when registering at the door. It is not required to be a US Chess Federation member but the event is USCF quick rated.

Parking: street parking on both North and South Orlando Avenue (A1A) is free. Juice 'N Java has a parking lot available for use, but you must purchase something (such as a coffee or pastry) and present your license plate number at the register. Different types of drip coffee are also complementary at the venue.

Thursdays at 6:45PM

Every Thursday is a five round Swiss tournament at Panera Bread in West Melbourne (245 Palm Bay Road NE, West Melbourne). Time control is 8 min + 3 second increment. First round will start at 6:45PM sharp! Fifteen dollar entry for adults, ten dollars for kids 17 and under. Prizes for top placements are cash based on entries. If there is a sufficient amount of players, there will be sections for different skill levels (Open and U1300/Amateur sections). Look for chess boards and register with Sean Malone or Alex Dshalalow. Check the FaceBook or Whatsapp group for updates, or contact the organizer directly at 321-514-8547. Tournament is U.S. Chess Federation rated for US Chess members. Encouraged to bring your own board and clock.

At the Catherine Schweinsberg Rood Central Library in Cocoa (308 Forrest Ave, Cocoa, FL 32922), every Sunday some players gather together to play some games for fun. Occasionally, they'll do a blitz tournament if they have the right amount of interested players. Chess Coach Owen Grant, a player with 50 years of experience, offers free guidance and coaching.
